AIIMS Rishikesh

All India Institute of Medical Sciences Rishikesh is one of the apex healthcare institutes established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY). The institute is established with the aim of correcting regional imbalances in quality tertiary level healthcare in the country and attaining self sufficiency in graduate and postgraduate medical education.

The institution is being established by an Act of Parliament on the lines of the original All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi which imparts both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education along with nursing and paramedical training. The AIIMS houses a 200-bed hospital. The main aim of the institute is to create an excellent academic and educational milieu for providing a platform for development of quality medical services, teaching and research.

The institution has well-equipped laboratories for departments, canteen and mess facility, lecture halls with modern learning aids, cafeteria and exclusive library. Institute has facilities for both outdoor and Indoor games for recreation. AIIMS is not only needs a leader in Health services but also a Centre of excellence in Medical Education Technology. AIIMS Jodhpur is using newer pedagogical techniques to achieve its mandate.

    About City

    Rishikesh is a city, municipal corporation and a tehsil in Dehradun district of the Indian state, Uttarakhand. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India, it is known as the 'Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas' and 'Yoga Capital of the World'. It is approximately 25 km north of the city Haridwar and 43 km southeast of the state capital Dehradun.

    Rishikesh is the starting point for travelling to the four Chota Char Dham pilgrimage places — Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. Rishikesh is well connected with all major north Indian cities like Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida via bus.

    Rishikesh has a pleasant climate for many months of the year. As its location is in the hilly terrains, the climate never becomes extreme type.
