All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhopal is one of the apex healthcare institutes established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY). The institution is being established by an Act of Parliament on the lines of the AIIMS, New Delhi which imparts both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, along with nursing and paramedical training.
The institution is expected to provide highly trained medical and paramedical manpower and conduct research. The institute will be outside the purview of the Medical Council of India. Lot of efforts are going into locating, enticing, appointing and retaining talented faculty.
The plan is to build a modern hospital. State of the art 20 modular and 7 non-modular operating rooms will be constructed. Nominal hospital charges will be levied to all. A Welfare Society would be formed to work on ‘no profit no loss’. Low price outlets for drugs and disposable medical appliances would be set up. A separate paid outpatient and inpatient would run for affluent class to fund the treatment of poor patients. Great emphasis will be laid on good work culture, and patient friendly behaviour. The institutes plans to start clinics in the community as well.

Bhopal has a humid subtropical climate, with cool, dry winters, a hot summer and a humid monsoon season. Winters in Bhopal are cool, and not very much comfortable like summers.
